Our commitment at LFJM
Who are we?
1️⃣ Our story
Founded in 2012 by parents of LFJM, the FCPE-Brussels was born from the desire to establish a strong and independent representation of families within the institution.
For more than ten years, we have supported parents through major changes in schools and actively participated in decision-making bodies.
2️⃣ Our affiliation
We are affiliated with the FCPE, the leading federation of parents of students in France.
This affiliation allows us:
- to be represented at the national level
- to sit on the board of directors of the AEFE
- to benefit from a network of expertise and exchanges
3️⃣ Our positioning
The FCPE-Brussels is:
- independent
- apolitical
- secular
- open to all families
Our objective is simple: to defend the interests of the students and ensure a constructive dialogue with the institution.
Our presence at the LFJM
The FCPE-Brussels ensures an active and continuous presence within the Lycée Français Jean-Monnet.
Our role is not limited to attending meetings: we participate, propose, and relay the concerns of families.
1️⃣ A representation in the instances
We represent the parents of students in the various bodies of the establishment:
- Establishment Council
- Class council
- Commissions (budget, catering, security, school life…)
- Instances related to scholarships and solidarity
This representation allows us to be informed in advance and to defend the interests of families.
2️⃣ A permanent link between parents and management
We are an identified point of contact for the management and the teaching teams.
We :
- let's convey the questions and concerns of the parents
- let's participate in discussions about the institution's projects
- we support families in sensitive situations
3️⃣ Constant vigilance
Being present also means:
- monitor the evolution of teaching conditions
- ensure safety and well-being issues
- remain attentive to the impacts of decisions on families
We exercise this vigilance in a spirit of dialogue and responsibility.
Our concrete actions
Since its creation, the FCPE-Brussels has been taking concrete action to improve school life and defend the interests of families.
1️⃣ Improvement of services for students
- Creation of the primary school nursery
- Organisation of internships during Belgian school periods
- Maintenance of extracurricular activities without increase since 2017
2️⃣ Monitoring of school living conditions
- Monitoring of the restoration (visits, parent questionnaires)
- Participation in discussions on school organisation
- Vigilance regarding safety and well-being conditions
- Prohibition of mobile phone use in college...
3️⃣ Information and support for families
- Organisation of webinars (Parcoursup, guidance…)
- Support on sensitive issues
- Implementation of solidarity initiatives such as book swapping
